Bug Bar – Solid Insect Repellent Bar

Description

Bug Bar is a solid alternative to the many spray-on bottles of insect repellent available. It’s a compact little bar that can be easily carried anywhere and provides a high level of protection against biting insects when applied to exposed skin.

Instead of carrying a bottle that is mostly filled with water or aerosol propellant, the Bug Bar is a matchbox-sized solid bar with a concentrated formula, making each bar last a very long time – comparable to using a much larger bottle of repellent spray. This also means no plastic bottle; Bug Bar can be thrown into any pocket, pouch or rucksack for easy access. The base material of the bar is itself functional; kokum butter, a skin-nourishing plant butter that soothes and moisturises travel-dried skin.

Containing Citrepel® 75, a plant-derived repellent with a high percentage of PMD (p-menthane-3,8-diol), and proven to have repellent activity similar to the well known synthetic repellent, DEET. It works to repel a wide variety of insects; mosquitoes, midges, ticks, sand flies and horse flies. The formula also benefits from the inclusion of copaiba balsam, a natural tree exudate which has been traditionally used as an insect repellent in the Brazilian rainforest and is also rich in β-caryophyllene, which has a soothing effect on the skin – perfect for calming any pre-existing insect bites.

Some insect repellents absolutely stink. Bug Bar, however, uses a lower odour repellent which has a mild citrus note, and combined with the gentle warming rainforest scent of copaiba, we think it’s actually quite nice.
